This Bugs Away candle has been blended to be as effective as possible and also created to be family and budget friendly, so no-one needs to compromise their families health by using toxic, harmful to health candles using artificial perfume, colours and/or paraffin wax.

You may wonder why we’ve decided to make our own? We have noticed when shopping for Citronella candles for ourselves, that the majority were just citronella in paraffin wax a known harmful wax to burn, or when we did find a citronella candle made with a non-toxic wax such as soy wax, it was in such small quantities of essential oil that the candles would hardly be effective.

We saw a need for something much more effective! After research and much testing we established a blend of essentials oils much more effective than just citronella alone and smelling a lot nicer too-this has led to this ‘Bugs Away’ blend being created unique to us at LOCK & LATCH.

We wanted this range to be in a one grab tin, which has a strike paper on the underneath and a safety match included under the lid, so you can keep one or a number of these in a safe place where all the family knows where they are kept incase of an impromptu picnic, garden party, BBQ or even in an emergency such as a power shortage. They can even be popped into your holiday luggage or an emergency go-bag, being in a tin rather than glass means these are a lighter, safer, waterproof option for travel.

When empty these tins are perfect for use around the home, such as storing matches, dried herbs and spices, all you need is to clean them thoroughly and add a label of what’s inside.

FOR THE BEST LUXURY CANDLE EXPERIENCE

For a full-fragranced therapeutic soy candle experience, please follow these instructions:

CREATE A GOOD ‘BURN MEMORY’:

• When lighting for the first time, allow wax to melt to the sides, OR for a minimum of 2hrs.
• Don’t burn your candles for more than 4 hours-allow to cool and reset between burns.
• Always trim your wick to about 6-8mm before you re-light your candle to minimise soot and remove any mushrooming of the wick left from previous burn.
• DO NOT BLOW OUT  Extinguish your candle by using a snuffer over the flame, or place the lid over the candle to starve the flame of oxygen.    

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

• If the wick isn’t trimmed before each use, if the candle is left in a draught, or left to burn too long-soot may appear. To remedy-extinguish, allow to cool, clear soot away and trim wick.

NOTE ABOUT THE APPEARANCE:

• Please remember all L&L candles are hand poured in small batches. Although all effort is made to ensure consistency, every candle will be slightly unique and different.
• After burning, the top of candle may appear uneven (eg. bubbling or unevenness). This is typical of soy wax with essential oils being used and doesn’t affect the candles use.
• Do not leave your candle in direct sunlight, although this should not affect the candles use.

For the safe & proper use of your L&L candles:

• Never burn a candle for longer than 4 hours at a time or unattended
• Burn candle out of reach of children and pets and away from a draught
• Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles
• Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire
• Do not burn candles all the way down, leave approx 5mm of wax in the container
• Keep the wax pool clean and clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring
